The Century is about time; both it's passage and our place in it. Each of the ten songs on this album represent snapshots in miniature, of places and people who have moved across and through the arc of our lives. It is about where we live, the place that grounds and has come to define us just as it surely did the countless others who inhabited it before us. These songs are about greeting the day, the way the light flows through the oak and maples after evening falls, how the first star appears high above the northern gable and we fall into dreams which contemplate our own passage into that coming good night.
The songs were recorded at Southern Gothic Studios in Nineveh, Virginia. We played all the instuments, sang all the parts and wrote all the songs. The Century is a collection of stripped down acoustic songs; the essence of wood and steel, voice and wind. These represent some of the very earliest songs we wrote together as well as newer tracks like "Virginia" and "The Poet".
